Young Apprentice Program: what is it?
The Young Apprentice Program or Learning Program is an initiative of the Federal Government to encourage people aged 14 to 24 to enter the job market.
These young people, through the apprenticeship contract, have the opportunity to get to know the new world of professions, even if they haven't decided on their career yet.
How the Young Apprentice Program works
But how does it work? Well, the apprentice chooses a company, goes through the selection process and, if successful, will be hired by the company in a special work contract.
Thus, the apprentice begins to carry out work activities in a shorter daily shift than other employees, who usually spend 8 hours or more working.
In addition to working less, apprentices need to be constantly learning and improving their professional skills.
Thus, the contracting company is responsible for providing training and professional courses for the apprentice during the contract period.
Therefore, the apprentice has the chance to receive all the benefits of the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) and also continue studying to be a better professional in the future.
Requirements to be a Young Apprentice this year
The Government has established the main requirements to be a Young Apprentice in any of the above companies in Law 10097, the Apprenticeship Law.
This standard establishes these main conditions for becoming a professional with an apprenticeship contract:
- Be between 14 and 24 years old
- Be enrolled in high school or have already completed it
- Be available to work up to 8 hours a day
- Have no other employment contracts
In addition, apprentices have these CLT rights even if they are hired under a special labor regime:
- Professional training compatible with your work area in the company;
- Based salary compatible with the market average and minimum wage per hour;
- Registration of the labor contract in the Employment Card;
- Paid holidays coinciding with school holidays;
- Receive payment of the 13th salary;
- 2% from FGTS;
- Transportation vouchers;
- Contract with a maximum duration of 2 years with a chance of getting an effective contract after the term;
- Male apprentices are entitled to leave to serve in the army and continue to receive FGTS in this case
With the requirements and main rights in hand, check out some tips to become a good young apprentice and continue to evolve over the two years of work. See below!
Tips for being a good Young Apprentice
Below we separate some tips for you who are interested in entering the job market as an apprentice, but don't know what to do to get it.
Choose a supported area
Apprentices are usually very young when they decide to enter the job market, but it's still interesting to have a sense of what you want.
Today, you can analyze various apprenticeship opportunities and look for the area that you think you have the most affinity with.
That's because the contract lasts two years and during that time you can show service and study to get a permanent contract after the end of the contract.
So, it's important to choose an industry that interests you.
Know the company you chose
You can choose a company, but you can also apply to participate in various selection processes.
In either case, it is interesting to be prepared to go through the selection stages and knowing the company is essential for this.
It is common for managers to ask about the company's history, location, number of employees, areas of activity and other things. Therefore, you must be prepared.
Check the requirements
When entering a selection process, it is important to study how it usually occurs and the rules that the institution imposes throughout the hiring process.
There are some points of the age or schooling requirements that the contracting company can change, as long as it corresponds to the Learning Law.
It is also important to separate all the documentation you need to prove the information to the contractor, such as school enrollment, certificate, RG, CPF, among others.
Be well dressed for the interview
“The first impression lasts” even if management interviews everyone to find out who the candidates really are, it's good to be well dressed and make a good impression.
When we talk about clothes, the ideal is that they are appropriate for the occasion, that is: neither as formal as a wedding, nor as sporty as watching your team play.
You can also find out about this issue with the management team itself, as well as with people who have already gone through the company's selection process.
Ready and efficient resume
When the opportunity knocks on the door, it is very important to have your resume ready and in hand. Currently, companies prefer resumes that are simpler and more direct, with no fluff.
In this case, the main information that needs to be in your document is the following:
- Basic personal data
- It is not necessary to put professional experiences (Especially because you cannot participate in the program if you have previous ties with other companies)
- Academic education
- Extra Activities, Skills, and Courses
- Professional objective (position you intend to occupy)
Demonstrate your willingness to work
Companies are not interested in hiring people who are not willing to work and learn. So you need to be really committed to this job and your role.
Therefore, at the time of the interview is the right time to demonstrate total interest in the vacancy, ask questions about the company, ask about the next steps, among other things.
Stay tuned to understand what the management team is going to go through and don't leave for later the doubts that you can clear right away.
