Simples Nacional brought many advantages for those who want to open their own business.
Agility to open the company, ease of paying taxes and encouraging formalization were some of its main advantages.
However, despite its simplicity, there are obligations and deadlines for individual micro-entrepreneurs as well.
And one of the main obligations is the MEI Annual Declaration – DASN-SIMEI, a declaration that is mandatory for all MEI's.
As many individual entrepreneurs have never had a business or are not familiar with some of these bureaucracies, we have prepared a step-by-step guide on how to make this declaration.
Pay attention to all the information below so that your company is always in good standing with the federal government.
What is Simple Nacional?
Simples Nacional is a shared regime for the collection, collection and inspection of taxes applicable to Micro and Small Businesses, provided for in Complementary Law No.
It covers the participation of all federal entities (Union, States, Federal District and Municipalities).
It is administered by a Management Committee composed of eight members: four from the Federal Revenue Service of Brazil (RFB), two from the States and the Federal District and two from the Municipalities.
In order to join Simples Nacional, the following conditions must be met:
- Fit in the definition of micro-enterprise or small business;
- Comply with the requirements set out in the legislation; It is
- Formalize the option for Simples Nacional.
What is the MEI Annual Statement?
The MEI Annual Declaration, or DASN-SIMEI, is the earnings report obtained by individual micro-entrepreneurs in the base year to which the document refers.
It is carried out through the Entrepreneur Portal, as well as the other procedures for the Individual Microentrepreneur, such as registration, printing of slips, alteration and discharge.
The Annual Statement has a period to be transmitted, which is between January 2nd and May 31st of the following year.
If it is generated after this period, a fine is generated that must be paid by the taxpayer.
How to make the MEI Annual Declaration
To make your annual statement, just follow the steps below:
- Go to www.portaldoempreendedor.gov.br and select the option ANNUAL DECLARATION – DASN-SIMEI;
- Enter your CNPJ and click continue;
- Choose between the two types of Declarations/Calendar Year: Original (for normal cases) or Rectification (in case there was an error in the original declaration);
- Choose the option of the previous year to make the MEI Annual Declaration;
- Enter the annual revenue you obtained from your business, and enter the values in the “Commerce and Industry” field or in “Services”, depending on your activity;
- Check if you had an employee registered in the previous year, clicking on “Yes” or “No”;
- In the summary tab you will see the contributions you paid and if there is any financial pending. Check the information and click on “Transmit”.
That's it, your annual statement has already been transmitted and you can print your receipt to file and control.
Remember that the MEI must report to the Federal Revenue the total of its annual gross revenue, obtained in the previous year, that is, everything that was calculated with the sale of goods or the provision of services, with the issuance of an invoice, or not (just to remind you that when it comes to selling or providing services to another company, MEI is obliged to issue an invoice).
