Kitchen gas was one of the items that rose the most in 2021, impacting the income of Brazilians, especially the most needy.

Being a fundamental input for everyday life, this price increase brought inconvenience to families.

Data from the regional health secretariats pointed to an increase in the number of accidents with alcohol stoves, an alternative that was being used by the poorest families.

The Vale-gás program was sanctioned by President Jair Bolsonaro in November 2021. The program aims to reduce the economic impact of increasing cooking gas on the lives of the poorest families.

The aid works in such a way that part of the purchase price for the 13 kg cylinder is subsidized by the government.

In the initial phase of the program, around 100,000 families will be covered, but the government hopes that this number will reach 5 million families in total.

The benefit amount paid will be R$ 52 per family.

Despite the payment schedule for the Vale-gás program only starting on January 18th, families in 100 cities in Minas Gerais and Bahia have already received the benefit on the last December 27th.

This is because these cities had a state of public calamity declared due to the recent year-end rains.

If you live in one of these cities hit by the rains, check your benefit as it must have already been deposited.
