Few things have increased as much in recent years as electricity. What if you could pay up to 60% less on your electricity bill?
This is the possibility presented by the Electric Energy Social Tariff. Ever heard of it?
In addition to all the expenses that increased during the pandemic, such as gasoline and food, for example, Brazilians had to deal with another hard blow to their budgets: the increase in electricity.
To make matters worse, many had to start working at home, leaving their children at home and then the electricity bill became even heavier for most people's pockets.
Aiming to help these people, a new resolution by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) came into effect, which changes the rules for including families in the Social Electricity Tariff.
What is the 2022 Social Electricity Tariff?
The Electric Energy Social Tariff is a social program created in 2002.
Through it, discounts are granted to consumers classified in the Low Income Residential Subclass.
Currently, the Social Tariff serves around 12 million families, but with the changes made to the program, this number should reach 20 million.
It should be noted that in the case of indigenous peoples and quilombolas, the situation must be identified.
How to register for the Electric Energy Social Tariff 2022
When it was launched, the Social Tariff program required that each beneficiary attend the electricity distributor to present the documents before registration.
However, law 14.203/2021 brought changes to the form of registration in the program.
Now, people enrolled in CadÚnico (Cadastro Único) for social programs of the federal government and in BPC (Benefit of Continuous Provision) will be automatically registered in the program.
It is worth remembering that each beneficiary can only use the benefit in just one residence, and must notify the distributor if he/she leaves that residence.
Reducing your electricity bill by up to 60%
The Social Tariff grants discounts on the monthly electricity bill of program beneficiaries. This discount varies according to consumption, that is, the less the family spends, the greater the discount.
- Up to 30 kWh/month: the reduction is 65%;
- from 31 to 100 kWh/month: the discount is 40%;
- from 101 kWh to 220 kWh/month: the reduction is 10%;
- Above 220 kWh/month, there is no discount and the cost of energy is the same as for consumers who do not receive the benefit.
Now it's time to run after and sign up for this social program that already helps so many Brazilians.
