But because the price was rising so much, a federal government social program was necessary to relieve this expense in the pockets of the poorest Brazilians.

The social program known as Vale-gás aims to help the low-income population in the purchase of cooking gas.

The program will pay the equivalent of 50% of the average price of a 13 kg gas cylinder on a bimonthly basis, which was initially set at R$ 52 per family.

This recurring increase is due to Petrobras' new pricing policy.

This means that the company can carry out readjustments in gas prices without defined periodicity, mainly following oil and dollar quotations.

Therefore, these values are corrected weekly, and can be passed on to the final consumer if the government understands that they are out of date.

As a result, each time the cylinder in a house runs out and the consumer goes to buy a new one, the price is higher.

Initially, three groups of families will benefit from receiving the Gas Voucher:

It should be noted that the benefit will begin to be paid to around 100,000 families, but the government hopes to reach more than 5 million families through this program.

The values referring to the program will be credited to the accounts that the beneficiaries already have for other social programs.

This means that the cards and passwords used to withdraw the Auxílio Brasil can be used to receive the Gas Voucher.
