Single mothers have had a hard time during the pandemic, often with no one to leave their children with. What if there was a social program to help fix this? Understand the proposal below.

You lockdowns and other restrictive measures to help combat the pandemic have brought serious problems to single mothers.

This is because many of them had no one to leave their children with and ended up having to leave their jobs.

In addition, even nurseries and schools that are already authorized to open are operating with very strict security measures.

Therefore, there is still a great deal of insecurity for these women, with regard to how they are going to take care of their children and still bring sustenance into the house.

What is PL 2099/20

Pandemic has exacerbated social differences, especially among single mothers.

Bill 2099/20 provides for permanent aid for single-parent families with a female provider.

This means that families headed by women, without the presence of a spouse or partner, with at least one person under eighteen years of age, will be entitled to the benefit.

It aims to ensure food security and meet the basic needs of the family.

The original proposal provides for the monthly payment of R$ 1,200.00 (one thousand, two hundred reais).

This amount would still be readjusted annually by the INPC, along with the minimum wage, so that it would not lose purchasing power.

Who is entitled to the benefit and when it will be paid

The criteria for receiving the benefit are:

  • Being a family provider (without a spouse or partner);
  • Have at least one child under 18 years of age;
  • Be over 18 years of age;
  • Not having a formal job;
  • Not receiving unemployment insurance or any other income transfer program;
  • Have a monthly family income of up to half a minimum wage per person or a total monthly family income of up to three minimum wages;
  • Be enrolled in CadÚnico.
  • Remembering that the approval of this aid is still pending in the Chamber of Deputies, and should be considered again after the parliamentary recess, as of February 2022.
