Appointments for the Operation Pente-Fino flame will be scheduled for the second half of the year. Learn more in the article below.

Everyone who has ever needed to carry out a medical examination at the INSS knows how long it can take to carry it out.

The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) is the only body responsible for this type of expertise, and due to the lack of staff, the expertise can take many months to be scheduled.

With the increase in cases of people infected with Covid-19, appointments for medical examinations related to the Benefits Review Program were suspended.

This measure had already been taken in 2021, in the face of increased cases of transmission in the pandemic.

What is the INSS Benefits Review Program?

INSS began, in August, the review of benefits for temporary disability.

Known as Operation Pente-Fino, this review concerns benefits maintained without expertise for a period exceeding six months and that do not have a stipulated termination date or indication of professional rehabilitation.

This review seeks to locate possible distortions and fraud in benefits that are being unduly paid.

The program started in August 2021 and according to the body, about 85,000 policyholders at the time would need to go through the program.

Those summoned who did not schedule an expertise began to have their benefits suspended from November 19, 2021.

Expertises are suspended until the second half of 2022

Lack of medical experts is one of the major causes of delay in scheduling medical examinations.

Although the program's expertise is suspended, this decision only applies to those scheduled from January 12, 2022.

The decision was published this Thursday (13), in the Official Gazette.

  • In a statement to policyholders, the INSS stated: “The INSS will notify policyholders of the new rescheduling date. Insured persons summoned for the Review Program who had the expertise suspended will continue to receive the benefit normally, until they are attended by the Medical Expertise“.
