Step by step to download the App
Before telling you step-by-step how to download the application, it is important to note that not all states provide the RG in digital format. Only 7 Brazilian states use this version, they are: Alagoas, Pará, Paraíba, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás and the Federal District.
If your state is on this list, check out the step-by-step guide on how to download the app:
- Check which is the RG Digital app in your state (Each state has a specific app);
- Download your state's RG Digital application from Google Play, if your cell phone system is Android, or from the App Store, if your system is iOS. (The download is completely free).
- Once downloaded, the next step is to register your RG. To register your digital RG, you must have the printed document in hand.
- Scan the QR Code on the back of your printed document using your cell phone camera.
- Perform facial recognition (this step is very important for app security).
- Create a password (this password will be used every time you log in to the app).
After performing all these steps, you will be able to access your identity document from your smartphone.
Offline access is not yet available, but it is something the government has proposed to address in the near future.

In addition to RG Digital, the federal government also made CNH Digital available. This new version is available to all Brazilian citizens, regardless of their state.
To access the CNH document in digital format, your printed document must have a QR Code on the back.
Only documents issued after March 2017 have this code. If your printed document does not have the QR Code, you will need to request a second printed copy and then access the application to validate the digital CNH.
