The main prerequisite for receiving most of the social benefits is to be registered in the Cadastro Único, popularly known as CadÚnico.
Basically, this register allows the federal government to have access to information on low-income families who want and need assistance to supplement their monthly income.
CadÚnico was created by the Federal Government, but the systems are operated by the city halls of each city.
How to register in CadÚnico
The Cadastro Único application is a practical channel that makes it possible to pre-register families that are not yet registered and wish to register.
This is just an initial step, however, essential so that when you go to the service center in your city, you can just confirm and complement your data.
The maximum period for attendance after pre-registration is 120 days. If your registration is not finalized within this period, it will be automatically deleted and you will need to start the process again.
It is important for you to know that pre-registration is optional. It serves only to advance the registration process of your family. If you prefer, you can do the entire procedure in person.
However, it is very interesting to pre-register before, to avoid forgetting and save time in the process.
The application can be downloaded from your smartphone's app store, just type Cadastro Único in the search.
If you prefer, you can also do the procedure through the website at the following link: http://cadunico.cidadania.gov.br/
Another option is to consult the Single Registry Service Centers in your city in the application or at the CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center) closest to you.
