INSS retirees and pensioners are anxiously awaiting the measure that should be approved soon. See below.

Within a series of economic stimulus measures during the pandemic, there were also advances on the 13th salary of INSS retirees and pensioners.

The amounts were released in advance, both in 2020 and 2021.

Despite having heated up the economy and helped many families, this advance meant that retirees and pensioners were left without the money they used to receive at the end of the year.

With that in mind, bill 4367/20, which is being discussed in the Chamber of Deputies, proposes the payment of a 14th salary to these retirees and pensioners.

This project has been awaited by retirees and pensioners for a number of reasons, the first being that most of them ended up spending the money from the 13th salary advance to cover costs incurred over the past year.

The second is that many retirees and pensioners have become the main income earners in their homes.

This happened due to the number of young people and adults who lost their jobs due to the economic crisis caused by the pandemic.

We cannot forget that retirees and pensioners are the groups that most commit their monthly earnings to medication and other health-related expenses.

Soon, that extra salary would help to breathe new life into the budgets of millions of Brazilian families.

Despite this being the question most retirees and pensioners ask, it still does not have an answer.

This is because bill 4367/20 is still pending in the special committees of the Chamber of Deputies.

Deputies are still discussing which source of revenue will be used to fund this extra payment.

What we know for sure about the project is that if it is approved, it will pay the ceiling of 2 minimum wages, including for those earning above that.

The project also provides for payment in two installments, the first in 2022 and the second in 2023.
